The End Is Nigh

According to some nut jobs out there Jesus is returning to Earth this Saturday. The 21st of May 2011 is the beginning of the apocalypse.

A loosely organized Christian movement has spread the word around the globe that Jesus Christ will return to earth on Saturday to gather the faithful into heaven. While the Christian mainstream isn’t buying it, many other skeptics are milking it. FOX News

Unfortunately for those of us with more than two brain cells the idea that all the faithful could be raptured away is just wishful thinking. Imagine what we could achieve if we didn’t have stoneage religions trying to hold back scientific progress.

When Saturday passes by without the return of Christ we will be able to chalk this one up as yet another failure by Organised Ignorance. Unfortunately it wont stop them dreaming up more half baked ideas. They are so used to failure by now that it is no longer a deterrent.

Jim Wallace, Gay Marriage, Islam & ANZACs

Jim Wallace, head of The Australian Christian Lobby uses ANZAC day to spread Christian ideology. Apparently Jim feels that it’s appropriate to claim that the ANZACs didn’t fight for either Gay Marriage or Islam.

What the ANZACs fought to defend was our freedom and culture. Although our culture is tolerant of Islam and supports an individuals right to hold such beliefs it does not embrace all Islamic values, especially when those values come into conflict with our own. But a big part of the freedoms that our culture and society does embrace is the idea that people have the right to choose their own partner. Unlike many religious values a gay marriage does not conflict with anyone else’s rights and freedoms.

I don’t personally support gay marriage; I just don’t have any objection to it. In the same way I also don’t support any sports but I certainly wouldn’t object to anyone else wanting to play, watch or otherwise enjoy them. What I do object to however is assholes like Jim Wallace who think they have a right to interfere with other peoples choices when that choice doesn’t affect them or anyone else.

The day that Jim Wallace or anyone else can present me with evidence that a same-sex marriage is impinging on the rights and freedoms of others is the day that I will oppose it. Until then I have no objection.

40 Days for life: the hypocrisy.

On Saturday the Perth Atheists protested outside St Mary’s catholic church in Perth to protest the hypocrisy of a 40day long prayer vigil to oppose abortion. As if some non-existent being is going to give to shits about a group of idiots with their hands clapped together.

The Christian ‘God’ is a mass murdering psychopath who is very much enjoys killing children. Here is my favorite excerpt from the bible.

And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. -Exodus 12:29

So why would any “pro-lifer” support such a being. Could it be that they are secretly pro-mass murdering bigoted scumbags; or just massive hypocrites?

Fitna

Fitna: The Movie by Geert Wilders

In 2008 a short but highly controversial film produced by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, was released. The purpose of the film was to show how the Qur’an acts as a motivative tool for Islamic terrorism. Due to the nature of this film there are many attempts to have it censored.

I am self hosting it because it’s too long for YouTube and other services keep deleting it. If there are any issues with streaming this video I can be contacted at Dan@danscomp.net You can also download the .avi here.

Pope protestors march in London

On Saturday thousands of people marched in London to protested the visit of Pope Benedict XVI. The visit is being paid for by UK tax payers some of whom joined the 20,000 strong protest. The march whent from Hyde Park to Whitehall where the rally was held.

Andrew Copson from the British Humanist Association opened up the speeches.

It’s true that as a matter of national policy we don’t use our status as a nation to lobby at the UN against the human rights of women or the human rights of lesbian and gay people. It’s true that our state doesn’t use its recognition as a state to lobby against the use of condoms, even in places suffering epidemics of AIDS. It’s true that our country has never, as a matter of national policy, concealed the sexual abuse of children and frustrated justice for survivors of sexual abuse. But I don’t think this makes us a moral wasteland! And I’d rather be a citizen of Britain than of the Holy See. -Andrew Copson

The tide is turning against the Pope. When he isn’t protecting paedophile priests from the law he is fueling a third world AIDS epidemic. Or using the status of the Holy See to lobby against human rights. The public backlash against the pope should serve as a warning that people want justice to be done. This protest sends a clear message that allot of people do not approve of the Pope; and for good reason. So far the pope and his freakshow have gotten away with covering up paedophile activity but with the world increasingly becoming more secular these human rights abuses can’t continue forever.

Catholic Cardinal spits the dummy.

In the UK a senior cardinal of the Catholic Church has spat the dummy and accused the BBC of being bias in favor of Atheists. Because the BBC gives more time to Richard Dawkins than it does to the Church.

Cardinal Keith O’Brien, the Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh, claims that a radically secular and socially liberal outlook is tainting the corporation’s news and current affairs output, which is “utterly lacking” in professionalism and balance.

Cardinal O’Brien said disproportionate airtime was given to atheists such as Richard Dawkins, while mainstream Christian views had been marginalised. He said he was alarmed by a reduction in religious programming on the BBC and its failure to appoint a religion editor to mirror similar roles for the arts, science and business. The Australian

If the religious freak shows were more entertaining they might have better luck holding a crowd. It seems people in the UK are growing tired of the same old medieval bullshit that the Church has been repeating for hundreds of years. They want something fresh; like Richard Dawkins and Science.

The Catholic Church in particular has a long history of prejudice and it is nothing short of irony for them to spit the dummy when their inane rantings are now ignored by the mainstream media. These accusations of bias are unfounded since the BBC does give them airtime it’s just that they never come up with anything new If the BBC were to give them the same air time they give to science it would be endless reruns of unfounded bullshit, and that’s not what people want.

British Pound more secular than United States Greenback

I just got back from England and while visiting a pub in London I noticed something interesting on the £10 note. We’re all familiar with the words “In God We Trust” that is printed on United States bank notes. Well it looks like the British have once again out done the Americans by placing Charles Darwin on the £10 note.

Compare this with the United States $10 Greenback.

The world is not a Pick'N'Mix

One of the things that really annoys me about Creationists is their dishonesty; even to their own faith. The other is their Pick’N’Mix approach to Science.

Defying Gods will

Christians believe that everything that happens is a part of Gods divine plan; but they only believe this so long as it is to their own benefit. As soon as they get sick they goto the Doctor or Hospital to obtain some science based medicine, the same science whos process they attack and disrupt at any opportunity and not only are they turning to something they so rigorously deny but they are also defying their god.If gods wants them to be sick and die a slow painful death then isn’t that exactly what they should do? If they are going to die then that is gods wish; according to their own philosophy but many of them are quick to defy the wish of their god as soon as this inconvenience arrives. So much for obeying the will of god.

Intellectual Dishonesty

It is no secret that Science and Religion are not compatible, which is why creationist’s reject it. Science must be rejected in order to preserve creationist belief because it highlights the complete fallacy of those beliefs. But they will only reject Science when it suits them for example Churches and their followers have no problem using modern technology which would not exist without the advancement of modern Science. Television, Radio, Cars, The Internet all this things came from Science and yet religious people happily use them sometimes even to attack the Science which developed them, religious stupidity clearly know no bounds.

Our knowledge of the universe is expanding all the time and God simply has no place in it. We once thought the Earth was flat, now we know it is round. We once thought the Earth was the centre of the universe, now we know we are not even the centre of our own galaxy. We once thought the Earth was a few thousand years old, now we know it is 4.55 Billion years old within a 1% margin of error and the Universe is 13.75 Billion years old with a possible error margin of 0.17 Billion years either side. Our knowledge keeps on expanding and creationists whether Christian or otherwise accept most of this new knowledge upto the point where it disproves or conflicts with their beliefs then they throw a tantrum and reject it.

No Pick’N’Mix

The choice between Science and Bullshit is clear; both are incompatible with each other and you cannot simply pick and choose the pieces of science that you do like and reject the pieces that you don’t. The world is not a pick and mix. If you embrace Science that’s fine and rejecting it is also fine however you cannot do both simultaneously. I am not talking about legitimate scrutiny, because that is the strength of science I am talking about out right rejection of the Scientific method. A popular hobby in the Creationist camp.

Judge rejects Christian immunity from the law.

A Judge has reject Christian pleas for special immunity from the law. There is no way these primitive people are deserving of special treatment; unless of course your talking about psychiatric care.

Christianity deserves no protection in law above other faiths and to do so would be “irrational, divisive, capricious and arbitrary”, a senior judge said yesterday.

In the latest clash between the judiciary and Christian believers Lord Justice Laws said that laws could not be used to protect one religion above another. Times Online

Apparently a Christian marriage guidance counsellor was sacked for refusing to help gay couples. A perfectly reasonable outcome for someone who refuses to do their job, but Christians are now expecting special treatment so that they cannot be sacked for refusing to help people. What about a Christian Doctor, would it be ok for them to refuse to save someone’s life for religious purposes?

Andrea Williams, the director of the Christian Legal Centre, warned that the judgment would deny Christians a range of jobs because of their beliefs. Times Online

We also deny plenty of jobs to paranoid schizophrenics because of their beliefs.
